amazon.com moving forward in the gadget business

When I was trying to check the amazon.com's homepage, I saw the letter from the CEO for restocked the Kindle(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kindle) which is wireless reading device.
If you know how unusual that amazon.com put the CEO's letter in the their very first page. Have a look at this.

Picture taken from http://www.amazon.com/ at 2:15 29th April 2008.

If you think it is just digital gadget such as smartphone and iphone, you should better think about it again.
Because, device was not the issues here.

What this letter mentioned is that they added 25,000 additional books, blogs, magazines, and newspapers which bringing the total to more than 115,000. A hundred fifteen thousands.
I will just briefly tell you about the history of ebook(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ebook) viewer. Almost none of portable gadget succeed in the market, before E-ink came out. E ink (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eink) screen is most comfortable for human eyes-I haven't seen it yet but a lot of people talked about that way.- and feel like paper because it is one of electronic paper technology(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_paper).
So it is possible technology to make new big market.

Whenever I thought about it, I felt that amazon.com was just online version of bookstore. I know their main business was not selling the book any more so they became online shopping mall long time ago.
So they don't have to sell the actual books in the future because they can sell the ebook.

I know it still need a lot of time but it will happen someday.

well I can't write well as you. I'm just a English student. And It mean I dont know English very well. And even, I'm not sure I understood your writing.
But I wanna say culture is just culture. Nobody cant change artificiality.
the culture always absorbs other culture. and It changes itself. Not just about foreign people or their culture. Lot of other slang languages are broadcast on TV. And It distory our culture? No I dont think so. It is just changeing. We don't know how it is changeing. And we cant say it's good culture or not. it's just culture.

Thanks for reply.

You didn't much understand what I was saying so I won't talk then. But, I think you should know what the exact meaning of 'slang'.
Here it is - Slang consists of words, expressions, and meanings that are informal and are used by people who know each other very well or who have the same interests. (2006, Collins Cobuild dictionary)

Itaewon looks like shit now.
English fills Korea.
Korea is becoming westernized because all these white fucks keep coming in trying to fuck our women.
They come to "teach" english. They come to "learn" about our culture because they "like" our culture.
Yeah right. Look at what happened to Japan. You got white nerds with Japanese names thinking they are more Japanese or asian than asians.

You got American Marines in Korea causing trouble and you got western businesses taking over.

Good Korean land is bought off to the rich white man. Korean women get swindled by the sweet talk that white men are so good at.

Hollywood has made the white man, whether he is a nerd or a fag, a "hot" man.

Look at this. I join the South Korean network, and this place is crawling with rednecks and wiggers and yellow-fevered horny white guys trying to "teach" english tryna get some pussy.

revolution is near muthafuckas

--------------------------------------------
You replied to post on Apr 11, 2008 at 8:39 AM.
Shall we do some reality check here?
Who blame to who?
Who want to be fuck? Was it white man or (I will borrow your expression.) our women?

Hollywood made the white man as hot man? Who made that kind of brainwash(It wasn't proper expression but if you are Korean, you will understand what I mean.)? Was it hollywood or our Korean broadcast channel?

I will ask very simple question. Why that muthafuckas do that? Because,,, because Korean woman looking(or wanted) for it. It is very simple economic(I don't know what the proper name is.) rule. Why there has product? Because people wanted that product.

If you really want to do something about it, you should go learn more(our real Korean culture and society and real Korea), study more and then teach to the Korean men and women, first.

You can see so many Koreans learn very very bad things and problem is that they don't know that is bad thing. I can't tell you everything(because I have to do something about it.) but I can make a few examples of it. I was shocked when I was watching Korean broadcast.(Because I haven't been in Korea for 6 years and rarely I am watching TV.) Comedian or some entertainer said that 'Oh, my god.' or some show program show some guy using the English name. Have you ever thought about why they doing it?

I can't remember what the name of the show and then they asked some American-Korean entertainer(or who was staying US for long time when he was baby or kid) that what is useful English expression(or similar kind). And you know what he said? 'Bro'(or with something) and then TV showing the 'The fast and furious 2' or something and then repeated a lot of 'Bro' scene. Did you even bother about this? US or UK people complaint about too much slang on their TV but we Korean suggested to use more slang on TV.

Ok. Let's see here. Why the hell people using Korean name as reverse order? Why they do that? Do you even understand why am I say this? If you write the Korean name to English, it sill is Korean name and Korean language. So grammatically, follow the rule of foreign language so your name must be same sequence as Korean. So my name should be always same order like 'Seong pill kon'. It can be change only if they were born in America or immigrant there.
I will make quick example. Gang is river. 'River Han' was used some movie and newspaper. So have you ever seen any newspaper say that "Gang Han"? No, right? Why? Because it is foreign language so follow the same sequence "Han gang". But why don't we use this rule to our name? Why?

That is the reason I say you should learn more. It is nothing to do with foreigner. It is all OUR problem, not theirs.

There are a lot of offensive statements in this thread. In particular, I think that Simon needs to grow up. Blaming everyone else, including your own people, means that you can't take responsibility for yourself and your problems. Maybe someone has treated you harshly for being a Korean and now you are out to get the "liberals." That's great. Nobody is impressed.
If the Koreans didn't want Western people here, they should not be hiring native speakers in droves.
If the Koreans want to participate in the global economy, they need to learn English. This is the only way for a developing country.
I came here because I studied ESL in college and decided to become an ESL teacher. I looked at many countries and decided on Korea because of the pay. I came here for the job, because I want to teach.
I did not come for sex or drinking. I think that it is really disgusting to see so many college graduates using this time to party. It certainly lends to a negative stereotype.
Since I have been here, I have tried to study Korean every day, for survival and because of a genuine interest in Korean language and culture.
The Korean people that I have met have been overwhelmingly kind and friendly to me, probably because I try to speak Korean, dress appropriately, and do not walk around on the streets with a soju bottle in my hand. I have learned to bow to my elders and act in a respectful way, even if someone is treating me with disrespect.
I can't do anything about people who came here to have a vacation from their lives in Western countries and just want to pick up Korean women and drink a year away. Yet I have to face discrimination because of this. The fact is that there are immature people everywhere, not just here. You can chose the make the most of your experiences or not.
It's disappointing. It might be avoided if Koreans tried to hire people who have backgrounds in English or education, people who actually want to be teachers. This might not be economically feasible.
I'm sorry that I don't know more Korean, but I'm learning every day. I'm sorry that I don't understand many aspects of the Korean culture, but I'm learning every day.
The Koreans will find a way to preserve their culture. The world is changing. Everything changes. Get over it and move on.

You replied to post 17 minutes ago.
I am very glad to hear your story.
Yes, I know I can find a lot of foreigners like you.

Anyway, if you read my previous post, you will know what really problem is. I am really harsh on Korean but truth should be come out. Here, you can't find a lot of Koreans who living in Korea so technically they don't know much about Korean culture.
Secondly, they were too young to know things properly.
Thirdly but most importantly, that person wasn't born or treated like average Koreans. What I mean is that if you met Korean who spoke fluent English, he probably went to US when he was young(like kid or baby). His parents should extremely rich and he never learn normal(average) Koreans lifestyle. So they don't know much about Korea.
You will see a lot of Koreans here thinks that he knew Korea but that was not real Korea. It is their imagination or from the television.

You think I was wrong but you can find very simple example from this post. First page, you can see my post and nobody reply my post but they reply everything else. Why? Because they don't know anything about what I wrote. So what do they know about Korea.

It is sad that Korean do very wrong way to learn English so they will not improve.(You might say they can improve but you almost can't find someone spoke English fluently when he or she started learn English after 20 years old.) Problem is that you almost can't find Korean who explain real Korea and Korean.

That's why I don't really post here because I can see a lots of wrong statements here. And I was too tiring to explain to them. No point to explain also because a lot of them don't even understand.(You can see one good example from my previous post which is Korean name thing and that I wrote here before. At the time, I've got very wrong answer-statement or idea or whatever- from Korean-American or Korean.)

3G iPhone and some more...

These are quite believable guessing article.

February 11, 2008 - 10:17 A.M. 3G iPhone, best guesses: When? What Price? Specs?

February 29, 2008
Apple gears up for June launch of 3G iPhone(http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech_and_web/article3460650.ece) by Jonathan Richards
Analysts have suggested that Apple is working towards a mid-year launch date for the much-anticipated 3G iPhone

Those two news article were just guessing but if you surf the Korean websites, you will find that it became fact.

Brett Schlesinger from Lodon, he commented very important thought on second article. He said that owning an iPhone is a user experience not a technical spec. This is the thing I would like to write it for Korean in my future homepage.

make-up = mask?!

This is a quite famous story about 10 or 20 years ago in Korea. It suppose to be funny but I am not that good at story telling so you should have to compensate.

One guy met one girl at the cafe. He liked the girl because she was quite pretty. So when they met day by day and then they fell for each other.
We, Koreans normally working 10~14 hours day so most of the time this couple dating at the very night of the day in the cafe where is very dark but there also has very pretty colorful light in it.
So finally they were getting married one day and went honeymoon to Jejudo where is island and famous for honeymoon destination.
Normally, Korean society does not allow to sex before marriage. (This changed a lot nowadays, but this story was old one so...)
After they arrived Jejudo and then they checked in the hotel. They were very shy to staying same room together but meantime very excited, too. When the girl came out from the shower, this guy shocked and said that "Who... Who are you?"

Because this guy never saw her face without make-up.

about me...

This is me Ara who came from Korea and studying at Malaysia.
Finally, I have done my study and I am going back to Daegu in Korea at 28th November 2007.
I haven't been to Korea for 5 years so you think I am not familiar with Korea, you are wrong. I knew too much about Korea. That is the actual big problem because I can do a lot of things if Korean people let me. Either case, I will be powerless.

I am not that interesting about working at Korea(because I will probably powerless person on the earth.) so I will try my best for what I have to do in Korea and probably move on to other country.

------------ This is new one for facebook.

I would like to listen someone's opinion. That should be cultural thing, technology, internet business, movie or TV series. I am not living in London, but I would like to listen Lodon talking 97.3MHz radio(http://www.lbc973.co.uk/) program through internet, because I can listen people's opinion about a lots of things.

Here is my blog: http://ara21c.blogspot.com/
Here is my Korean blog : http://kr.blog.yahoo.com/asrai21c
Here is my movie rating list: http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=11583805
Here is my movie comment: http://www.imdb.com/user/ur5108219/comments

------------ new one

You'll be surprise once you getting to know me, because I don't use fancy word and look not very nice. I just express what exactly have in my mind, no more no less. That's what most girls-maybe Asian girls- don't like me because they too much care about fancy word and how he looked.

Topic in facebook.com - None of my Korean friends call me 'pll kon seong' but why would I want to foreigner call me 'pill kon seong'?

originally http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=2245127154&topic=3453

So every body call me my name for 'Seong pill kon'. Isn't that a wise decision?
I wrote my Korean blog about this issue - 이름을 영어로 표기하는 방법 http://kr.blog.yahoo.com/asrai21c/993
But, a lot of Koreans still use either way. Please, read my blog's article and think wisely.
Think about very carefully.. What was your name for?

If you would like to have some special name, there has a nickname right? That's what nickname for. So you can use nickname instead of changing your real name like me. So sometimes I can write 'Ara Seong' because if I said to Korean that my nickname is 'Seong Ara', Korean will imagine meaning of my name and laugh at it-When I thinking about it, I admit it that I laugh, too. So I will probably use just 'Ara' to Korean.

comment for my friend's blog

orginally http://navinkaur.blogs.friendster.com/the_life_and_times_of_nav/2007/09/its_my_way_or_t.html

Hey, Navinda. How are you? It's good to see you here. Even if I don't visit here a lot.

It is good thing that you try to something different. You should read "Who moved my Cheese?"(It's story about why change is necessary.) or "The 7 habits of highly effective people"(I read it very long time ago but what I remember is that if you want to succeed in your life, you should become a extremely well human being.)

I just tell you one thing. My friend said to me that "life wasn't fair!", you know. But, what I wanted to tell my friend is that "You did not acted fairly." It's like that, you know. If you playing bitch, everybody do bitch to you. That's what I call the life of fairness.

But, normally Asian country does not need girl behaviour like that. So why should you care?
Maybe, true. But, if you want to succeed in your life or career, you should try it.

Working is always hard but if you try like what I mentioned, it won't be that hard.

Anyway, have a enjoy your life!

I will copy this to my blog, too. It's here http://ara21c.blogspot.com/

Make a new history and new future for Pixar and Disney

I watched it a few hours ago and I could not help to stop thinking about this movie.
Every scene was beautiful and incredible story and it was really funny movie.
I believe I laughed almost an hour or more.
Plot pace was quite fast so I felt that movie is more than 2 hours movie and enjoyed it very and very long.

Reason for saying this movie is make a new history and new future for Pixar and Disney.
Because when people talk about the animation is for child only and then movie was not good enough for adult, this movie can shut them up.
Most interestingly, when I watched movie in Malaysia cinema at 4.40pm show during weekday, I heard that adult are laughing around (let's just say) half an hour and kids are laughing around half an hour and they are laughing together around half an hour.
It was very interesting experience. I watched movie alone so sometimes I felt bit sorry for kids beside of me because I laughed a few times when their not laughing so they did not understand why I am laughing at.
So my point is adult can enjoy movie very much and kids, too.
Adult should not have to lower down their expectation from the movie.

I do not know about what happen in the native English speaking country's cinema but I think it probably have same happen to them.

So I believe Disney and Pixar did it again for new generation of family movie.

There has one problem, maybe. Kids are not enjoy much than other Disney Pixar movie, maybe. I am not so sure about it. But, at least all the family member can enjoy it so it was good thing.

I highly recommended to anyone.

10.0 out of 10.0.

I rated as 10 but it is possible to go down when I was watched it again. However, it will most likely stay at nine-point-something rate between 9.5 to 9.8.

comments for the 'Notre-Dame de Paris (1999)'

musical info - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0285800/

originally http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0285800/usercomments-9

I am not big fan of music but this musical amazes me.

10 out of 10

I knew music was beautiful and it makes me feel better but I do not really enjoy listen the music and especially classical music such as opera, Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart's music and philharmonic orchestra. I knew it was all wonderful music but whenever I listen to them, I will definitely go sleep. So I wouldn't enjoy it. I can enjoy part of the music. For example, the movie "The Shawshank Redemption" when Andy go to the prison's announcement room and then playing the opera(I believe this is one of the best scene in all time.), it was beautiful music.

But, I do like watching musical bit childish way because I would like to watching classic Disney cartoon movie such as Beauty and the beast, The lion king, Aladdin and so on.

I watched "Notre-Dame de Paris" about 1 or 2 years ago and that time my English wasn't that good enough to understand the subtitles and interestingly I don't even remember what story is about so I don't have any idea what to say about it.

And then a few days ago I have been listening the some musical album such as Les Misérables and Cats. Surprisingly, I realised that how much I enjoyed their singing and playing. This is the what happen when you watched best movie or performance. It's out of nowhere it came to my mind. I don't even know what they talking about or what this story is about but I was so badly wanted to watch it again and listen to music again.

I must give rate for 10/10 because I don't even understand what they were saying or talking about but I still want to watch it again.

This is extremely powerful and beautiful performance and energetic and splendour musical. It doesn't matter whether anyone likes musical or not so I highly recommended to anyone.

comments for movie "Hwasango (2001)" (modified)

orginally http://imdb.com/title/tt0301429/usercomments-54

It was funny movie. It made that way., 14 July 2007
Author: Ara Seong from Kuala Lumpur, Daegu(Korea)

** I modified this comments.

User rating was too lower than it seems. This is advice for how you can enjoy watching it.

1. Avoid watching English dubbed version.

2. This movie is comedy.(IMDb.com forgot to mention it.) Don't even think about otherwise. It is like Kung Fu Hustle. This movie's proper genres are action, comedy and fantasy.(This movie is based on the comic book.)

3. You can enjoy watching Jang hyuk's silly and funny acting. I believe his one of best acting on this movie.

This movie was extremely funny like Kung Fu Hustle. If you enjoyed Kung Fu Hustle, you can very much enjoy this movie, too. I don't remember how long ago. When I visited some VCD shop, I saw a lot of times shopkeeper watching this movie. It was that funny movie.

My rating - Kung Fu Hustle (8.3/10) - Hwasango (8.9/10)

Hwasango was so high rating because I don't need subtitles. It is one of my favourite like Oldboy.

*** I just watched again and then I realized that it was a little bit overrated. What I remember the movie was that it was extremely hilarious. And it was hilarious but this time I recognized that action scene(i.e. flying scene) was not really smooth. Maybe, because last time I watched it through VCD so I couldn't recognize. Shaolin soccer also quite same happened.

I am not sure what will happen if I Kung Fu Hustle watched it again, probably my rating should less than that.

My rating - Siu lam juk kau(Shaolin soccer 7.1), Hwasango(7.5)

Steve Jobs said that "The iPhone is product that revolutionize the way we communicate."
When I saw the "CBS: A closer look at the iPhone" video, my mind immediately response that it will succeed more than iPod.
This time I won't tell why is that so because I will develop my own website for this kind of things and I can consulting to the other gadget develop company about this.

I know a lot of very nice pda or gadget such as Palm, iPaq, Clie, HP jornada, Nokia's best selling phone, Motorola E398, Razr V3, Sony Ericsson's a few Walkman model and PSP.
I've got impression not like any other gadget. I felt like when I first time saw Palm Pilot with Nokia 3310.(Nokia 3310 was quite different experience because I am Korean and I couldn't speak English when I first time saw Nokia 3310. And when I was little a bit fimilar with English, this phone came to me. When I learned English more, I did learn this phone's real identity.)
That was the reason why I choose that article title. If you know Palm Pilot and Nokia 3310 very well, you will know what am I talking about.

gp2x - handheld gaming machine with linux

GP2X.co.uk official site - Buy the GP2X Linux console http://www.gp2x.co.uk/

Main Page - wiki.gp2x.org http://wiki.gp2x.org/wiki/Main_Page

GP2X.org http://www.gp2x.org/

myGP2X: The GP2X FAQ http://www.mygp2x.com/faq/#_Toc119326348

I was surprised, when I read "The GP2X FAQ". So I just cited the some part.

------------------------------------------------
What's a GP32?
The GP32 is a really cool predecessor to the GP2X and has been very successful on the homebrew scene. Although it looks like a Nintendo Game Boy Advance, it can do a whole lot more.
We're not going to cover the GP32 in details - you can find out more information than you can throw a stick at over at GP32 Wikipedia entry - but this 133 MHz device with 8Mb of RAM (though both could be overclocked and upgraded respectively) was a big hit because anyone could put software onto the GP32 and not have to pay royalties or purchase a costly device SDK (unlike every other handheld manufacturer). This ensured a solid cult following.

I've never heard of a GP32! Why?
The GP32 was only really available in Korea at launch and it took months to get the GP32 into Europe (by which time the GP32 had evolved to the more feature-rich GP32 BLU). There was a lot of confusion surrounding the European launch and despite lots of very developer-friendly features; it was never really noticed by mainstream press / users. Additionally, the GP32 never made it officially to America.
------------------------------------------------

Yesterday, I bought Linux magazine which was published a few months ago and I did know there has Linux console which is GP2X and official site was UK.
And then I found out that GP32 was originally made by Korean company because I think I heard about GP32 from somewhere definitely not from Korean because I don't even read any Korean news paper or article.

I am telling you. If you are working this kind of Korean company, you can contact me for better oversea business. I can consulting a lot of things which you can make more bigger business.
Yah. I don't think you can understand what I am saying.. Don't worry I will wirte this one to my Korean blog by Korean.
